High School Booster clubs are typically run by parent volunteers, and as such, they all tend to use their own personal email addresses to conduct business on behalf of the club. While this may be the easiest solution for the individual, it does not provide a seamless transition when new board members come in and take over a particular role.
Case in point, the average tenure by any one individual in a board position is usually 2 years. This means that all communication that was done via email will be lost as a reference point when an individual vacates the position. This inherently makes the tasks for the incoming board members just that much more difficult and may require the former board members’ role to continue on with additional communication.
What do you need in order to open an account with Google for Nonprofits? Luckily, not much more than your 503c’s EIN number and a valid email address that can be verified. In some cases, TechSoup will require a determination letter from the IRS, but shy of that, the process for a booster club to get approved takes around 3-5 days.
What Do You Get?
Here is what you get with this free service.
- Unlimited users with 30 GB of cloud storage each
- Professional email addresses at your nonprofit’s domain
Shared Drives - Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, Google Meet, Google Chat, and more
- Video conference for up to 100 people with Google Meet
Why?
Why should you take advantage of this free service? Simple, it makes communication and the frequent turn over much more seamless. You also get one central location to store all files from the booster club that grants easy access for all of the board members. Given how COVID-19 has changed how business is conducted, booster clubs also gain access to Google Meet, allowing them to run and record their board meetings virtually, which may be the new norm for the foreseeable future.
Booster clubs that use NUI Boosters can expect our team to help you navigate this process.
